Thirty plus years ago, how could it have been that long.  February of 67, cold in most of the country, and uneasy feelings everywhere, there was definitely a rip in the fabric.


Here are some things that helped shape the summer of 1967


NOW was just one year old and beginning to raise the publics awareness.

Medicare was one year old and everyone had such great expectations.

Israel and the Arab nations of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, were preparing for war.

The Black Panthers had formed the year before and were starting to get headlines on the west coast.

Rumors of drugs, sex and rock n roll were flowing out of the west coast.

The war in Southeast Asia was on the TV almost everyday.

Freedom of Information Act, United States law that provides public access to federal government files. The act, which went into effect on July 4, 1967, is based on the principle that every person should have clear access to identifiable records without having to state a reason for wanting the information.
